VOAP Blasts NWC, Seeks Reverse of Decision
By Victor Bieni
The Leadership of Voice of Aniocha/Oshimili People (VOAP) led by it’s National President, Comrade Emenike Bieni has condenmed the actions of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Working Committee on the recent suspension slammed on the member Representing Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency, Hon. Ndudi Elumelu and six others on the fracas that followed the Federal House of Representatives Minority Leadership.
The Activist who addressed Newsmen yesterday in his office at Asaba, Delta State Capital faulted the decision of the Party’s National caucus for not consulting Delta, other PDP states in the six Geo-political zones of the country, Party Leaders and Niger- Delta elders.
Voice of Aniocha/Oshimili People is a formidable Socio-Cultural, political, and economic pressure comprises of Professionals, political stakehoders, Civil society organizations, Youths, Women, and other critical stakeholders in the four Local Government Areas of the Federal Constituency with membership cut across other ethnic nationalities of the state, Nigeria and globally to protect the interest of her members and the Federal Constituency.
He Stated further that the premise the suspension of Elumelu and six others which cited section 58 sub-sections 1 (b), (c), (f), (h) by the National Working Committee of Peoples Democratic party (PDP) centred on is not sufficient, that it does not portray any epitome of fair hearing, and lacks verifiable evidence, therefore that the action is null and void.
The leadership questioned the sincerity of the party towards reinvesting itself back to life as a formidable opposition by trying to impose an unpopular candidate from Rivers state against the wish of more than two-time third PDP and opposition political parties in the Federal House of Representatives including the Speaker that has endorsed Elumelu and six others as the Leader of the minority.
Comrade Emenike therefore advised the three member PDP NWC to rescind their actions, avoid turning the party into Rivers State affairs as that may be perilous to the leadership, especially now that the party is battling to regain its feet on the wounds inflicted on her back by the rulling Leadership of All Progressive Congress (APC) in Nigeria’s political space.
In his words: “Elumelu and Six others choice of minority Leadership in the Federal House of Representatives will bring back the lost glory of the party. Let us forget sentiment, ethnic politics and allow the best to bring back PDP back to its feet. Elumelu is more experienced in the job when compared to Wike, Secondus’ brother. Only Elumelu has been tasted, proven and will make a better voice of the opposition as a three-time member of the House. We are all Niger- Deltans. Rivers PDP has not in any day outsmarted Delta PDP in terms of all round sacrifices. They have the National Chairman and everything. They should allow Delta for the position of minority Leadership”, he stated.
“PDP should shun personal interest and allow party interest to dominate. NWC was supposed to be 36 States and FCT PDP members and not only the National Chairman, Publicity secretary and one Governor”, he Stated.
The leadership of VAOP therefore urged PDP NWC to re-order it’s steps, and rescind its decision for the good of the party and Nigeria in general as the group has not seen any disobedience, insubordination, and act of any anti- party activities on the part of Elumelu and six others
